The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has released its June 2026 sports wagering revenue report. The report summarizes monthly activity reported by the state's licensed interactive sports wagering operators and gives residents and regulators a clear look at how the North Carolina sports betting market performed in June.
How Much Was Wagered in June
Between June 1 and June 30, account holders in North Carolina wagered a total of $589,604,507 on sporting events. That figure includes both paid and promotional wagers placed through the state's licensed platforms. Of the total amount wagered, account holders won back $530,262,531.
Gross Wagering Revenue for the Month
The betting activity produced gross wagering revenue of $54,140,105 for the state's licensed interactive sports wagering operators. Gross wagering revenue is defined as total amounts received from wagers, minus amounts paid out as winnings, before any deductions for expenses, fees, or taxes. This is a routine part of how state regulators track monthly wagering activity.
Estimated Tax Proceeds
North Carolina applies an 18 percent tax rate to gross wagering revenue generated by sports wagering activity. Based on June's results, the estimated tax proceeds for the month come to $9,745,219. This represents the estimated tax generated from June's reported gross wagering revenue.
North Carolina's regulated sports betting market operates under House Bill 347, which state lawmakers signed into law in June 2023. The law established the framework for licensed operators to begin accepting wagers, and the market officially launched on March 11, 2024, opening to residents 21 and older through a slate of mobile and online platforms. Eight sportsbook apps were licensed to operate in the state at launch, giving North Carolina one of the larger operator lineups among states with legal online sports betting.
The Lottery Commission releases these figures monthly, giving an ongoing picture of activity across the state's licensed NC betting apps since online sports wagering launched in North Carolina.
