Key Contributors Toward Panthers Super Bowl Odds in 2024
The Carolina Panthers will depend heavily on second-year QB Bryce Young moving forward with their rebuild.
Young will need increased contributions from his supporting cast of RB Chuba Hubbard & rookie RB Jonathan Brooks, along with veteran WRs Adam Thielen & Diontae Johnson complementing first-round pick Xavier Leggette. Look for creative run designs and screen plays from this offense under first-year head coach Dave Canales.
On the defense, standout defensive tackle Derrick Brown will lead the way for a unit that has been plagued by injuries.
Carolina Panthers Super Bowl History
The Carolina Panthers joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1993, making them one of the league's newer franchises, still seeking their first Super Bowl win. They've appeared in two Super Bowls total (in the 2003-2004 and 2015-2016 seasons), but lost both, to the Patriots and Broncos, respectively.
This makes the Panthers one of 14 teams to have fewer than three Super Bowl appearances in their history, interestingly right alongside each of their NFC South rivals, including the New Orleans Saints (1 appearance), Atlanta Falcons (2), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2).

Have the Panthers Ever Won a Super Bowl?
No, the Carolina Panthers have never won the Super Bowl, though they have made two appearances since their debut season in 1995 as an NFL expansion team. Their first Super Bowl appearance came in the 2003-2004 season, where they held an 11-5 regular season record under head coach John Fox, entering the playoffs as a Wild Card team.
Victories over the Cowboys, Rams, and Eagles cleared the path to face the New England Patriots in the team's first championship appearance. Unfortunately, despite keeping a close game, they lost with 0:04 left in the fourth quarter, thanks to a 41-yard field goal made by legendary kicker Adam Vinatieri.
Their second Super Bowl appearance came in the 2015-2016 season, with former head coach Ron Rivera and the Carolina Panthers all-time passing leader, QB Cam Newton. They very nearly had the coveted "perfect season" having gone all the way up through Week 16 before incurring their first loss.
They defeated the Seahawks in the Divisional Round and Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game, outscoring both opponents 80-39. They eventually lost 10-24 to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.

- 🏈 2003-2004: Super Bowl XXXVIII vs. New England Patriots
- 🏈 2015-2016: Super Bowl 50 vs. Denver Broncos
Former Panthers HC John Fox took on the legendary HC-QB duo of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in Super Bowl XXXVIII, but like most of those who have faced this duo in a Super Bowl, the Panthers came out on the losing end. The Carolina Panthers lost the game 29-32 on an Adam Vinatieri last-second field goal.
The Carolina Panthers faced the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, losing 10-24. The Panthers had entered the game as 5-point favorites, but the Broncos defense and three field goals from Brandon McManus put the nail in the coffin. Star LB Von Miller notched 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and six total tackles, winning Super Bowl MVP.
How Many Times Have the Panthers Been to the NFC Championship Game?
The Carolina Panthers have played in four NFC Championship games since the team's first season in 1995, including their second year in the league as an expansion team in the 1996-1997 NFL season.
Their second NFC Championship Game came in the 2003-04 season, where they won the game and went on to play the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl — eventually losing the game 29-31 thanks to a last-minute field goal.
They went on to play in the NFC Championship again two years later in the 2005-06 season, losing to the Seattle Seahawks 13-34.
The Panthers most recently went to the NFC Championship game in the 2015-16 NFL season, when they won the game handily over the Arizona Cardinals with a 49-15 victory. Unfortunately, that success didn't translate in Super Bowl 50, going on to lose their second Super Bowl appearance to the Denver Broncos.
