North Carolina is getting three World Series of Poker Circuit events over the course of the 2022-23 season, according to the WSOPC’s newly released schedule. The annual World Series of Poker in Las Vegas is in its fifth week with the Main Event scheduled to start July 3 and run through July 16.

The final day of the summertime poker festival, which is featuring nearly 90 events this year, is July 19.

It’s not mobile North Carolina sports betting, but it does prove how popular gambling is in the state.

The latest effort to add statewide mobile sports betting failed in the North Carolina House last week.

Retail sports betting is legal at the two Cherokee Casino sportsbooks in the western part of the state.

WSOP Circuit in NC in August

Immediately following the close of the WSOP in Vegas, the Circuit kicks off on July 20 at the Choctaw Durant Casino in Oklahoma and moves on to North Carolina’s Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort, Aug. 4-15.

Of the 25 WSOPC events identified so far, Harrah’s Cherokee will be the setting for the one in August and two others – Nov. 24-Dec. 5, 2022, and Feb. 16-27, 2023.

The World Series of Poker Circuit Events are poker tournaments held throughout the United States and in some international locales beginning in late July each year.

They are designed to appeal to recreational players because of their far smaller buy-ins and because they’re held at regional casinos offering easier travel. However, a number of professional poker players also use the Circuit as a way to keep their skills sharp and to try to earn an ongoing livelihood.

What Happens at WSOP Circuit Events?

Typically, each WSOPC stop features 12 official events in 12 days, including a $1,700 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event. Winning players receive WSOPC championship rings as opposed to the championship bracelets that winners earn at the WSOP itself.

There is also a direct tie-in between the WSOPC and the WSOP in Vegas. The following July, all WSOPC winners are automatically entered in a $1 million Tournament of Champions at the WSOP where a gold bracelet goes to the winner.

This summer, the Tournament of Champions closes out the WSOP on July 18.

For 2022-23, 10 more Circuit stops are expected to be added to the 26 already on the calendar. So far, the only international spot identified is the Aruba Hilton, Sept. 22-Oct. 2.
