Few college football head coaches have reached the level of sustained success over the years that most of North Carolina’s ACC leaders have. Between UNC’s Mack Brown, who ranks seventh all time in wins (271) and has a BCS title during his run with the Texas Longhorns, and Wake Forest’s Dave Clawson, NC State’s Dave Doeren and Duke’s Mike Elko — you’d be hard-pressed to find another state with the level of sideline success that the state’s quartet of coaches have. That's a trait that should add some fireworks to North Carolina sports betting come next fall as well.
As we get into the heart of the CFB season, BetCarolina.com utilized records from Sports-Reference.com to see which ACC coaches have the best record in the month of October. Coaches must have minimum three years experience to qualify.

Current ACC Coaches Record in October
Which NC Coach Has Best Success in October?
Unsurprisingly, Brown is North Carolina’s No. 1 coach in October, both in terms of raw wins (92) and win percentage (.680). Brown ranks well ahead of the next closest coach in the state, which is Doeren, at 22-21, followed by Clawson, at 40-47. Strangely enough, despite being considered more than solid coaches for their respective programs, Doeren and Clawson actually haven't had a tremendous amount of success in October.
Elko has only been in Durham for just over a year, making him ineligible for our list — though the former Texas A&M defensive coordinator did go 2-2 in October last year.
The overall leader among ACC coaches in October win percentage is Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, who has won 84.2% of his games during the 10th month of the calendar year. NC betting apps surely will make note of Swinney's mark when they're live for next season's contests.
Which Coach Could Do Best In October This Year?
Looking forward to October, each of the four ACC members from North Carolina face their fair share of tough matchups during the calendar month. The Tar Heels play Syracuse, No. 20 Miami and UVA in Chapel Hill between Oct. 7 and 21, before venturing to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech on Oct. 28.
Over in Durham, Elko and the Blue Devils look to build off their 3-0 start against NC State at home on Oct. 14, before playing No. 4 Florida State and Louisville on the road on Oct. 21 and 28.
At Wake, Clawson and company will tangle with Clemson and Virginia Tech on the road on Oct. 7 and 14, before hosting Pitt and FSU to close the month.
Finally, in Raleigh, NC State has two home games (against Marshall on Oct. 7 and Clemson on Oct. 28), offset by a road clash against the Blue Devils on Oct. 14.
Each head coach will look to build off their previous success in October at their current school to climb the ACC’s October win percentage leaderboard.
Using the futures market at Caesars Sportsbook as a barometer, it’s safe to say that Brown and the Tar Heels have the best odds of escaping October unscathed — with UNC holding the best ACC title futures, at +650. Look for a Caesars Sportsbook North Carolina promo code when apps launch early next year. Elko and the Blue Devils are second, at +900, while NC State is listed at +4000 and Wake Forest comes in at +6500 — putting the finishing touches on what should be an action-packed month of football in the Tar Heel State.
