Underdog no longer offers sports betting in North Carolina as of December 2025. The company officially ceased its sportsbook operations in the state, reducing the number of legal sports betting apps in North Carolina from eight to seven.
North Carolina sports betting launched in March 2024, and no additional sportsbook licenses have been issued since the original rollout. Underdog’s exit was the first reduction in licensed operators since launch.
Underdog’s Shift to DFS and Prediction Markets
Underdog cited a business decision to pivot away from traditional sportsbook operations. The company is focusing on its daily fantasy sports platform and federally regulated prediction markets rather than expanding within state-regulated sports betting markets.
Current Legal Sportsbooks in North Carolina
Following Underdog’s departure, the remaining licensed North Carolina sports betting apps are:
- bet365 North Carolina
- BetMGM
- Caesars
- DraftKings North Carolina
- Fanatics
- FanDuel
- theScore Bet (formerly ESPN BET)
North Carolina sports betting remains active through the remaining licensed operators, with no announced plans from regulators to issue new sportsbook licenses as of December 2025.
