What Will NC State’s Final Record Be?

What Will NC State’s Final Record Be?
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

The North Carolina State Wolfpack begin their college football season on Aug. 31, playing a road game in Hartford against UConn to kick things off across North Carolina sports betting. The Wolfpack enter the season hoping to improve on 2022’s 8-5 record, a challenge that got BetCarolina.com wondering what their 2023 record will be.

The Wolfpack in recent seasons have consistently won football games, compiling at least seven wins in eight of the last nine years, but haven’t come close to winning the ACC Championship.

With this in mind, DraftKings Sportsbook has their odds to win the National Championship at an astronomical +30000 and has them at +2000 to win the ACC, trailing Clemson, Florida State, Louisville and North Carolina. For this particular exercise, BetCarolina.com came up with hypothetical odds solely on what their 2023 record will be.

Floor Is High Under Doeren

Unsurprisingly, another winning season for NC State seems to be in the cards, with 7-5 the favorite at +250, followed by 6-6, 8-4 and 9-3. BetCarolina.com gave the potential of a 5-7 losing record +650 odds and any other unlisted record has odds of +1200.

With coach Dave Doeren at the helm, winning seven games seems to be a formality, with the coach putting up remarkably consistent results over the past decade. The defense was exceptional last year, and while they lost some key linebackers, it appears as though replacements are in the pipeline to join Payton Wilson, an exceptional outside linebacker who should be a key to the defense.

The secondary has the potential to be even better with returning corners Shyheim Battle and Aydan White leading the charge.

The defense will be important early with a slew of newcomers on offense, including quarterback Brennan Armstrong. Receiver Keyon Lesane should lead the pass catchers, returning from a strong 2022 season to join some new faces in the vertical game. Jordan Houston returns at running back and hopes to have a better season with a hopefully improved offensive line.

While chemistry may be an issue early, this group of players has the potential to be the most explosive offense in the Doeren era.

Improving on their eight win season last year will be a challenge, but Doeren and the newcomers to the team should be more than up for it. With no more divisions in the ACC, the Wolfpack schedule is also advantageous with no Pitt or Florida State on the schedule. Check out NC State's Toughest Stretch of the Schedule here.

It’s too early to jump to conclusions, but another seven win season seems to be the floor for an improved Wolfpack team.
