Key Takeaways:

  • 📉 Bryce Young's Offensive Rookie of the Year odds (+4000) got extremely long after he sat out in Week 3.
  • 🔟 Young ranks No. 10 in odds to win OROY.
  • 🏆 Young's MVP odds stayed consistent at +15000 following Week 3.

The Carolina Panthers made a huge splash the 2023 NFL offseason when they traded WR D.J. Moore for the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. The Panthers used the selection to draft Heisman-winning Alabama quarterback Bryce Young in the first round, giving the team the franchise QB it has been lacking since Cam Newton's departure.

You can bet on Young's performance in his rookie year with most major sportsbooks within the U.S. In order to wager, you must be located in a state or jurisdiction where sports betting is legal. For those living locally, North Carolina sports betting is legal in limited locations at tribal casinos since March of 2021.

However, recent legislation has legalized mobile sports betting in North Carolina and retail sportsbook expansions, likely going live in early 2024.

How Have Injuries Affected Bryce Young Odds?

Bryce Young's odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year are now significantly longer than they were prior to Week 3. They moved from +1500 to +4000 at DraftKings.

Meanwhile, fellow rookie QB Anthony Richardson also missed Week 3 as he was in concussion protocol. His odds got slightly longer (+300 to +450 after Week 3) but his position among other OROY candidates did not change: He's still ranking second behind only Falcons RB Bijan Robinson.

Perhaps the biggest rookie QB winner from Week 3 was Texans QB C.J. Stroud, who moved from +1500 to +450, tied for second with Richardson. Stroud led a huge upset win over the AFC South favored Jaguars, 37-17.

However, Young's MVP odds have not been affected by his Week 3 injury. They remain consistent at +15000—a long, long shot to win.

Bryce Young Odds to Win Offensive Rookie of the Year

Bryce Young's odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year are +4000. Those odds got even longer after two disappointing outings to start his season and missing the Week 3 game at Seattle.

But Young will not be without stiff competition for the award, even within his own division. His division rival Atlanta Falcons drafted Texas running back Bijan Robinson with the 7th overall pick. He has an implied probability of 25.0% of winning the award, making him the favorite of all rookies to win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Young is not the only quarterback in contention: Colts QB Anthony Richardson (drafted 5th overall) and Texans QB C.J. Stroud (drafted 2nd overall) rank No. 2 and 3, respectively, in odds to win OROY. They are both listed with +450 odds.

Bryce Young has longer odds to win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after a rough beginning to his NFL career with two disappointing starts and missing a game. A quarterback won the award in two of the last five seasons, when the Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray (2019) and Los Angeles Chargers Justin Herbert (2020) captured the title. Bryce Young Odds to Win MVP

Bryce Young is not the favorite to win the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year of the Award, and he is an even longer shot to win the 2023 NFL MVP. However, it works in Young's favor that a quarterback has won the NFL MVP award 15 out of the last 16 years.

Considering how rare it is for a rookie quarterback to win the NFL MVP award, DraftKings Sportsbook Carolina lists Bryce Young's 2023 NFL MVP odds at +15000. Some North Carolina sportsbook promos could increase these payouts with an odds boost or profit boost.

Bryce Young Player Props

Bryce Young comes into the NFL in 2023 with much fanfare as the No. 1 overall pick and the first quarterback taken. With the hyper surrounding him, the player prop bets for Young anticipate a successful rookie season.

Bryce Young Passing Yards

Bryce Young has totaled only 299 yards in his first two NFL games, averaging 4.2 yards per throw. His longest completion this season was only for 22 yards. Therefore, FanDuel Sportsbook Carolina lists Young at +13000 to lead the NFL in regular season total passing yards this season.

In addition, Young's odds are +18000 to lead the NFL in most regular season passing touchdowns after throwing two in his two game.

Bryce Young Passing Touchdowns

Bryce Young's complement of weapons also give him a decent shot to throw for a lot touchdowns this season. When he gets into the red zone, his primary target has been wide receiver Adam Thielen, who caught Young's only touchdown pass in Week 2.

If the plan is for a short touchdown pass, Young needs to look no further than his running back Miles Sanders and tight end Hayden Hurst.

Bryce Young's passing touchdown odds are looking good for his rookie season, all things considered. However, FanDuel Sportsbook Carolina gives Young +13000 odds to throw for the most regular season passing yards this season.

2023 Carolina Panthers Outlook

The Carolina Panthers have a much better shot at a playoff berth with the addition of rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Last year with lesser QBs and talent on the roster, Carolina managed to challenge for a playoff berth before losing in Week 17 to the Buccaneers.

Because the Panthers upgraded at quarterback, and upgraded or stayed the same at all other units, it can be argued that they should have an even better chance of making the playoffs with a weak NFC South division this year.

Now that future Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady has retired, it is certainly within the realm of possibility that Carolina wins the division and makes the playoffs in Young's rookie season.

Panthers Playoff Chances

The Carolina Panthers playoff chances are currently 7.1%, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

With a weakened division slate and a mediocre opposing quarterback schedule in the 2023 NFL season, the Carolina Panthers have a good chance of winning the division or making the playoffs as a wild card team.

Panthers Super Bowl Odds

Currently, the Carolina Panthers odds to win the NFC Championship is 0.8%, and the Panthers Super Bowl odds are +20000, which is an implied probability of just 0.5%.

Although the Carolina Panthers have a decent chance to make the playoffs with less-rigorous-than-normal schedule, the probability of making and winning the Super Bowl is more of a long shot.
