After a two-year run that included an ACC All-Rookie team spot in 2024 and 68 starts in Chapel Hill, guard Elliot Cadeau is on the outs with the North Carolina Tar Heels. This week, the sophomore guard announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. With that in mind, BetCarolina.com, as part of our NC sports betting analysis, compiled some hypothetical odds on where the Brooklyn native could go next. A hometown option is atop our initial board.

Where Does Elliot Cadeau Go Next?

Entering the offseason, our top landing spot for Cadeau’s services at guard is St. John’s, which is 10 miles from Brooklyn in the heart of Queens. The Tar Heels lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament after advancing out of the First Four, but March Madness odds are still heating up at North Carolina sportsbooks.

Rick Pitino’s bunch at St. John’s clock in at +475 to land Cadeau out of the transfer portal after the Red Storm reached the second round of the Big Dance before being eliminated as a No. 2 seed over the weekend. St. John’s had two senior guards this season, Kadary Richmond and Deivon Smith, who combined to average nearly 22 points per game.

Those +475 odds, which would translate to a 17.4% implied probability if it were offered as a wager at North Carolina sportsbook apps, narrowly beat out two fellow NCAA Tournament teams, the Louisville Cardinals and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Those programs are co-listed at +600 on our board, while three Sweet 16 teams from the SEC (the Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers) have odds of +1000 apiece to land the Brooklyn native this offseason.

Cadeau shot 44.5% from the field and 33.7% from behind the arc during his second and final season at UNC, increasing his scoring average from 7.3 to 9.4 points per game in the backcourt for the Tar Heels this season.

For reference, two years ago Cadeau was a five-star recruit out of Link Academy in Missouri who picked UNC over Louisville and Texas Tech, as well as Baylor and Georgetown. His current decision could pave the way for him to pick one of the two programs he spurned back in 2023 as his next destination.

The 2024-25 season is over for UNC but we’ll have UNC basketball odds ready to go when next season begins in Chapel Hill.
