Who Will Be 1,000th Winner on PGA Tour? Odds For 2025 Wyndham Championship

Thomas Leary Profile Picture

  • There have been 999 unique winners in PGA Tour history.
  • Aaron Rai, Tom Kim and Patrick Reed all won in Greensboro for the first time.
  • Will this week's Wyndham Championship yield Mr. 1000?

There have been 999 winners on the PGA Tour in its history, creating a unique opportunity across North Carolina sports betting this week. The Tour returns to Greensboro for the annual Wyndham Championship, which has seen its fair share of first-time victors. While major winners like Matt Fitzpatrick, Hideki Matsuyama and Jordan Spieth are among those with shorter odds, a fresh face could emerge this Sunday to become "Mr. 1,000."

BetCarolina utilized the DraftKings North Carolina oddsboard for this week’s PGA Tour event to then develop hypothetical odds of a first-time winner this weekend.

Next First-Time PGA Tour Winner

Luke Clanton

  • The PGA Tour rookie is getting plenty of respect from operators like BetMGM North Carolina. Clanton, just 21 years old, turned pro earlier this summer after posting multiple runner-up finishes as an amateur in 2024. It's been a somewhat quiet year so far compared to 2024, but sportsbooks clearly like his fit this week for Sedgefield Country Club - where he finished 5th last year and shot 62 in the third round.

Denny McCarthy

  • Arguably the best player yet to win on the PGA Tour after Tommy Fleetwood (not in this week's field), McCarthy has two career runner ups at The Memorial and the Valero Texas Open. The putting specialist doesn't have much history at The Wyndham, but was T9 in 2020 and T15 in 2021.

Sam Stevens

  • The 29-year-old was a college teammate of Viktor Hovland at Oklahoma State. Fresh off a second at the 3M Open, Stevens has been knocking on the door for sometime. He also made the cut in both majors he played this season, posting a T60 at Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship and a T23 at Oakmont for the U.S. Open. He was also solo third at the Byron Nelson earlier this season. Did miss the cut last year in Greensboro.

Thorbjornsen, Cam Young Could Breakthrough

Michael Thorbjornsen

  • The big hitter was the second member of the PGA Tour U class following Ludvig Aberg. While he's not quite lived up to Aberg's track record, NC betting apps think it's a matter of when, not if, the 23-year-old collects his first PGA Tour victory. Finished runner-up at the 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship, a stroke behind Garrick Higgo.

Cameron Young

  • Will it ever happen for the former Demon Deacon? Young has 3 top-5s in majors since 2022, including a runner up at the Open Championship at St. Andrews. Shockingly, he still hasn't slammed the door on a Tour victory. A win here at Greensboro this week will send him into the FedExCup Playoffs in style, and just might also get him on the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Young was T4 at both the RBC Canadian Open and US Open this summer. He finished T22 at last year's Wyndham.
