What Are Charlotte’s Odds At No. 1 In 2025?
As we await the draft lottery, it’s worth pondering where Hornets general manager Jeff Peterson will go this year. Charlotte, Utah and Washington each have for the top odds of landing the No. 1 overall pick, at 14% (or +615 odds).
When it comes to odds, the Hornets rank ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans (12.5% chance at No. 1 pick), Philadelphia 76ers (10.5%) and the Brooklyn Nets (9%) for securing that top overall pick come late June. We will know more in a few weeks once the ping-pong balls have fallen where they may, and how this all might change Charlotte Hornets odds for futures wagering.
According to Tankathon.com, Charlotte also has 13.4% odds of getting the second pick, 12.7% odds of securing the third selection and 12% odds of hitting the fifth pick in the lottery, with higher odds (26.0%) of getting the sixth selection come draft day.
ESPN projects that Charlotte will land the third pick in the draft. They predict the Hornets will select Rutgers shooting guard and small forward Ace Bailey, who is 6 feet 10 and could play in the backcourt or up front for the Hornets in 2025.
In his lone season in Piscataway, Bailey averaged 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game on 46% shooting from the floor and 34.6% from behind the arc. That could be enough to land him in the Queen City in time for the next season of professional basketball in Charlotte.
At BetMGM North Carolina Sportsbook, odds have been posted for the 2025-26 college basketball national champions. Duke and Purdue are the co-favorites at +1000 odds, followed by Houston at +1100 and UConn at +1500. North Carolina has +4000 odds with the operator, N.C> State is at +12500 and Wake Forest has a +20000 futures line.

These odds are exclusive to BetCarolina.com, but NC sports betting apps operators offer plenty of NBA playoff odds and props, plus they will have more NBA Draft odds ready when the draft order is set.
While the team in Bristol has Charlotte locked in on Bailey, there’s still a chance that the Hornets will wind up with the top pick in the June draft, which could ultimately allow Peterson and his staff to land the top prospect in 2025.
That prospect is former Duke Blue Devils superstar forward Cooper Flagg. He is the consensus top prospect in this year’s draft class, after he became the fourth freshman to win the Wooden Award.
FanDuel NC Sportsbook gives the Hornets, Wizards and Jazz all +500 odds to land Flagg as the top overall pick in June.
We also give Charlotte solid odds of landing Flagg, listing him No. 2 behind Bailey on our Hornets draft board at +450. Bailey leads the way at +300, while his former Rutgers teammate Dylan Harper is No. 3 at +525.
Other prospects to keep an eye on this year for the Hornets include Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe, at +660, as well two SEC guards: Tre Johnson of Texas (+1100) and Jeremiah Fears of Oklahoma (+1500). Flagg’s former Duke teammate, Khaman Maluach, rounds out our board at +1900, speaking to the type of player Peterson could covet should Charlotte land a lower pick in this year’s draft lottery.
We’re about a week into the playoffs and Caesars Sportsbook North Carolina has the Oklahoma City Thunder as the title favorite with +145 odds, followed by the defending champion Boston Celtics at +200.
