Who Will Win Golf’s Next Career Grand Slam? Top Contenders and Odds for 2025

Christopher Boan Profile Picture
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

  • Rory McIlroy just completed the Grand Slam at the Masters.
  • Only 6 players in history have accomplished such a feat.
  • Can Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele or Jon Rahm eventually join the club?
  • Spieth gets the first crack at Quail Hollow for the PGA.

The PGA Championship tees off at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte next week, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler as the favorites across North Carolina sports betting. McIlroy of course just joined the Grand Slam club with his win at The Masters.

Can Jordan Spieth join him in such elevated company next week?

With that in mind, BetCarolina.com broke down the odds on which golfer will join the Grand Slam club next, with 31-year-old Spieth and 54-year-old Phil Mickelson each needing one more win to achieve the honor. But others have more momentum on their side.

Who Achieves Career Grand Slam Next?

Jordan Spieth +550

While Spieth has the best shot at completing the career grand slam, simply because he can achieve the honor by winning at Quail Hollow during next week’s PGA Championship that runs from May 15-18, others that have fewer wins across the four majors are actually ahead of him on our career slam odds board. That’s because Spieth’s last win on the PGA Tour came at the RBC Heritage in 2022, though he has managed three top 10 finishes on the tour this season, which could help his cause in Charlotte.

Given Spieth’s need to only win one major (the PGA Championship) to complete the career grand slam, it’s likely of little surprise to learn that the veteran golfer is No. 2 on our next slam winner odds board, at +550, sitting behind Scottie Scheffler, who comes in at +350.

Scottie Scheffler +350

For Scheffler, majors have been a ‘close but no cigar’ affair away from Augusta, by and large, with the 28-year-old winning The Masters twice, in 2022 and 2024, and adding runner-up finishes at the 2022 U.S. Open and 2023 PGA Championship. Throw in a seventh place finish at the 2024 Open and you have the full picture of Scheffler’s Major tournament run of late, which could turn a corner with the right mix of good play and good luck when the PGA Championship tees off from Quail Hollow. Scheffler will arrive in Charlotte fresh off a blowout win at the The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, hence his short odds at BetMGM NC

Xander Schauffele +700

The other golfer to keep an eye on when it comes to becoming the seventh player to complete the career grand slam is American Xander Schauffele, who won half of the majors (the PGA Championship and Open Championship) last year, with the 31-year-old San Diego native checking in at +700 to finish the circuit next. Worth noting: Schauffele has five top-10's at The Masters, and seven at the U.S. Open.

Morikawa, Rahm Still Longshots

Among the longshots to keep an eye on are two players (Collin Morikawa and Jon Rahm), who check in at +1000 apiece to finish the career grand slam next, with the former already having won the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 Open Championship - with a T3 finish at the 2024 Masters Tournament and a T4 being his best result at the U.S. Open (achieving that in 2021). Rahm has two major wins (the 2021 U.S. Open and the 2023 Masters) to his name, along with a T2 at the 2023 Open and a T4 at the 2018 PGA Championship.

Phil Mickelson +1500

Like Spieth, Mickelson is just one major away from the career Grand Slam, but father time is not on his side. Mickelson will give it another go at the U.S. Open this summer at Oakmont, where he famously suffered one of his many runner-ups to Geoff Ogilvy back in 2006. Next year, Mickelson's eligibility for the U.S. Open will run out from his 2021 PGA win (his last victory). While he likely will get special invites to future U.S. Opens, the last three seasons suggest Phil's major window has closed.

Justin Thomas +1750

On the other end of the odds board, grand-slam wise, is the man who won the PGA Championship the only other time the tournament was held at Quail Hollow, with Justin Thomas checking in at +1750 to win the final three legs of the honor during his playing career after winning in the Queen City back in 2017 and again at Southern Hills in Tulsa in 2022.

For now, we’re going with the man who just tied the PGA Tour’s four-round scoring record (253, at The CJ CUP Byron Nelson) as the top contender, odds-wise, to join McIlroy in the career grand slam club, though Spieth can punch his ticket by winning at Quail Hollow next week.
